Main propulsions for diesel-electric vessels such as ferries, offshore oil and gas, offshore wind, special ships or tugs require high efficiency and customized solutions. ELIN Motoren manufactures asynchronous machines and integrated PM synchronous machines – slowly running for efficient drive lines without gearbox – for the below mentioned fields of application. Electric drives in particular are becoming increasingly important in shipping, as they are more environmentally friendly and efficient. The IMO is increasingly taking initiatives such as the EEXI (Efficiency Existing Ship Indes) and the CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator) to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 by global regulations.

Depending on requirement specifications, polyphase winding systems are used for operating low-voltage frequency converters demanding higher power conditions. A further advantage is our low-sound and low-vibration design due to welded steel components.
