By 2060, the amount of plastic waste will triple, rising from 460 million tons in 2019 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/environment\/global-plastic-waste-set-to-almost-triple-by-2060.htm\">1.231 million tons in 2060<\/a>. These are alarming figures, considering that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/de\/headlines\/society\/20181212STO21610\/plastikmull-und-recycling-in-der-eu-zahlen-und-fakten\">EU targets<\/a> call for 55% of plastic packaging waste to be recycled by 2030. A rethink and innovative solutions are needed across the board. Europe and the US are leading by example and are already world leaders in plastic recycling innovations and alternative plastic technologies. We will need even more plastic recycling solutions in the coming years as government and consumer pressure increases.<\/p>\n<p><strong>High energy efficiency combined with high performance <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chemical recycling has proven to be a sustainable solution for dealing with plastics in recent years. Extrusion technology to produce thermoplastic products such as industrial hoses, PVC sheets or V-ribbed belts is here to stay. The technology is constantly evolving and requires enormous technical expertise to obtain the best possible extrudate. To meet the high demands, machines with a well-thought-out drive concept, optimum screw geometry and a compact design are required. The drive plays a central role in this. It is the heart and decides whether the extruder system is operated in an energy-efficient and at the same time powerful manner.
